Hospice Huronia Volunteer Association

Terms of Reference - Draft


The Hospice Huronia Volunteer Association will act as a liason between the volunteers of Hospice Huronia and the Board of Directors, providing input on the organizations mission and vision, strategic plan and operations to the Board on a semi-annual basis.

The Board is anxious to hear from the Volunteer membership as it recognizes the importance of the work of the volunteers and the need for the volunteers to have a voice. Having a Hospice Huronia Volunteer Association will also ensure the opportunity for Continuous Quality Improvement as the association can also offer a perspective from patients and families.


All volunteers who have :

  • ˇcompleted the required training,
  • ˇhave submitted all required documentation to support the position
  • ˇattended at least 2 training sessions in the previous year
  • ˇhave been engaged with the work of Hospice Huronia for at least 10 hours during the previous year

are eligible for membership in the association.

From the membership, a president, secretary and treasurer will be elected annually.

Mandate or work of the Association

The Association will meet regularly ( at least twice annually ) with membership to canvass for various issues or concerns, ideas or suggestions that the volunteers may put forward.

The President of the Association will work closely with the Executive Director and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure optimal communication with a focus on improving the quality of services delivered by the organization. The executive, representing the Volunteer Association will meet twice yearly with the executive of the Hospice Huronia board to discuss planning and issues that may arise. From time to time, other meetings or connections may be necessary.

Terms of Reference will be reviewed by the membership annually in consultation with the Board of Directors.
