Capital Campaign Launch

Hospice Huronia Launches Capital Campaign to build a local Residential Hospice

Hospice Huronia is launching a Capital Campaign to raise 2.3 million dollars for the building of and first year operating costs of a local 5 bed Residential Hospice. The new Residential Hospice will serve the approximate 64,000 residents from Midland, Penetanguishene, Beausoleil First Nation, Tay and Tiny Townships and parts of Springwater Township.

Entitled “Help Build our Dream” the Capital Campaign’s goal is to build a 5 bed Residential Hospice where individuals can come and receive expert hospice care in a welcoming home-like environment offering Comfort Care Compassion to them and their families.

A Residential Hospice will be a tremendous asset to the region. Currently, while in-home Hospice services are available locally, we have no dedicated actual Hospice beds and residents have to drive up to 45 minutes to access those facilities in either Barrie or Collingwood. The need for local Hospice beds is both great and growing, with 31% of Simcoe County residents being over the age of 55. A new facility must be built and operable by December of 2018.

Hospice Huronia is also looking to increase its volunteers for expansion of its current visiting and bereavement programs, fundraising events and office tasks.

Hospice Huronia is a community-based charity that enhances the quality of life for individuals and their families facing life threatening illness or bereavement. The organization charges no fee for its services.
